Job Description General Summary: Manage the accounting department for EMS accounting. Responsible for the accounting for one or more EMS/OFL entities and one or more support services eg accounts payable or accounts receivable. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:* · Manage accounting and develop accounting staff. · Direct and coordinate the preparation of the company budget. · Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget. · Update revenue and expense forecasts. · Update cash forecasts. · Oversee daily operations of the accounting department. · Review for accuracy and completeness the work of Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable. · Ensure internal controls are adequate to safeguard the assets of the company. · Prepare financial analysis. · Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements as well as SB740 compliance. · Assist department managers and corporate staff to develop one year and five year business plans for the company. · Establish and implement short and long-range accounting department objectives. · Establish accounting policies and procedures sufficiently to record the transactions of the businesses in accordance with GAAP and resulting in minimal audit adjustments. · Maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's objectives. · Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements. · Advise Deputy Superintendent and assistant superintendent on accounting related matters. · Recruit, train, supervise, motivate and evaluate accounting department staff. · Assist with special projects as assigned by the CFO, Corporate Controller and owners. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: · Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. · Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. · Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. · Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Education and Experience: · Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Public accounting experience with financial statement audits. · 10 years or more experience in accounting with controller level experience. · MBA preferred · CA CPA Required *The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
