Job Description Position Summary: AP Staff Accountant to provide financial, administrative and clerical services and to ensure accuracy and efficiency of operations. The AP Staff Accountant is responsible for providing clerical accounting support to the Accounting department, and working closely with the Operations and Maintenance departments. Responsibilities include correcting, processing and reconciling a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, departmental billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, vendor statements, journal vouchers/entries, and accounts receivable. Assist with coding financial information; prepare and process documents to disburse funds, make deposits and prepare reports; prepare monthly bank reconciliations; compile and review information for accuracy; maintain records. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting the Accounting department with administrative and financial clerical functions and general office assistance. Duties include, but not limited to: Maintain accurate and complete records and post adjustments as needed. Review recurring payment schedule report for any issues before the end of the month. Assist Property Accountants with the review of Gross Potential Rent report by performing research and correct any adjustments in ledgers. Review delinquency reports and coordinate clearing of unapplied credit and prepayment transactions. Balance sheet reconciliations and resolutions of account discrepancies. Daily monitoring and reporting of bank activity. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. Verify GL balance and maintain supporting schedules for GL accounts. Assist in the preparation of financial statements. Prepare and record journal entries. Process and reconcile intercompany transactions. Assist with special projects as requested. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Basic to entry level accounting and bookkeeping terminology and practices Previous experience in property management/real estate, accounting or similar business environment General record keeping and filing systems Business math (add, subtract, multiply and divide mathematical figures, percentages, ratios and discounts) Familiarity with Excel functions and formulas, Appfolio, or Yardi Ability to compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness Strong attention to detail and the ability to detect errors and recommend suggestions to correct/revise Organization skills and ability to prioritize workflow Ability to meet deadlines and adhere to schedules Effective communication skills Detail oriented with exceptional follow-through and problem solving skills Build and maintain partnerships across all departments to facilitate quality support and business excellence Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience. Detail oriented along with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload. Excellent organization skills. Interest in Real Estate. Thrive in a fast paced environment and able to perform duties with little supervision. Deadline oriented with excellent interpersonal skills. Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting software (Appfolio, Yardi).
