Job Description: Development and Executive Assistant

The Nexus Fund works to prevent mass atrocities around the world, and addresses hate speech in the United States to prevent identity-based violence. We are seeking a full-time assistant to work directly with the Executive Director for development (fundraising) and administrative support. Successful applicants will have at least two years of experience in development.

Location: Venice and Malibu, CA (with some remote work)
Full-time with occasional evening and weekend work
Salary: $50,000 + health care coverage


Development (70%)
Conduct research to identify potential funding opportunities, including but not limited to institutional and foundation grants, major gifts, etc.
Manage funding opportunities, including application deadlines, reporting deadlines, etc. Assist with writing grant applications and reports as needed
Track communications with prospective and current donors, ensuring ongoing and timely communication between Nexus Fund executive staff and relevant contacts
Manage donor platforms and database, including Salesforce and Crowdrise
Plan and manage fundraising events as needed
Serve as main point of contact for grassroots donors, including drafting email updates, answering questions, etc.

Executive Support (20%)
Manage Executive Director’s schedule and appointments
Manage task list with Executive Director
Schedule internal and external meetings
Assist with other tasks and projects as needed
File and reconcile expense reports

Organizational (10%)
Manage social media presence for the organization, posting on Facebook and Twitter regularly
Manage email account
Manage Virtual Reality Equipment
Assist with staff projects as needed

Have at least two years experience in development (grants management and donor relations a plus)
Intend to stay in this position for a minimum of two years
Have a good sense of humor and a positive, can-do attitude
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Tech and social media savvy
Exceptional research skills
Open-minded and creative
Self-motivated strong work ethic based on integrity and enthusiasm
Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proactive approach to problem solving
Thrive in a flexible work environment
Experience as an assistant is a plus
