An NFL Product Design Lead must embody the values, culture, and work ethic of the NFL's design discipline. This role is a hybrid hands-on designer and manager. Candidates must possess high-level design, strategy, and leadership skills and experience.

Product Design Lead Responsibilities

* Advance the overall quality of design thinking, processes, and execution across the team, while advocating for a User Centered Design process.

* Solve complex design challenges using rapid prototyping and iterative design.

* Demand innovative solutions to design problems with an eye on driving value for both users and the business.

* Maintain a detailed understanding of design and technology trends and best practices.

* Help interpret qualitative and quantitative user feedback to drive productive iteration of design solutions.

* Collaborate closely with the Experience Design, Product Management, and Technology teams.

* Provide clear creative direction and provide timely feedback to keep teams moving forward on schedule.

* Build healthy, collaborative relationships across disciplines, vendors, and stakeholders.

* Utilize expertise in design execution to set appropriate guardrails for designers to achieve successful technical implementation.

* Mentor and manage designers to achieve a positive team culture and excellent work.

* Present the work of the team with confidence and polish.

Design Systems Responsibilities

The Product Design Lead, Design Systems will own and control the NFL's Facemask design language. Facemask contains the brand assets and guidelines, visual affordances, interaction patterns, and component libraries for all NFL digital experiences. The system defines aesthetic and interactive interface design for every product in the Digital Media portfolio; including NFL.com, NFL Mobile, CTV, NFL Fantasy, and NFL Game Pass.

The person in this role is expected to maintain, grow, and groom the system as well as the processes that will extend Facemask as new technology, experiences, and needs arise. This includes but is not limited to: enforcement of interface compliance with both internal and external product managers and developers; facilitating introduction of new elements and driving consensus with multiple designers who will implement changes; version planning and rollout; strategic planning for addressing hardware and software updates that impact Facemask; the creation and maintenance of any Facemask artifacts including source files and digital resources.

Additionally, this person may be asked to contribute to the design of user interfaces for our backend consoles and systems that support the fan-facing products.

Day-to-Day

In this role, you would work directly with the Creative Director, Experience Designers, and Product Leadership to create vision and strategy for the entire portfolio of NFL digital products. It would then be your responsibility to translate that vision and strategy into the design execution. You are expected to possess a voice, judgment, interpersonal skills, and intuition that is respected amongst your peers and Leadership. Your design thinking and executions must be meticulously crafted, innovative, strategic, and user-centered.

Combined with strategy, vision, and execution, you will mentor your team of direct and in-direct reports. It is your responsibility to foster their growth path and help them set and achieve appropriate career goals.
