* Independently resolve technical problems and initiate design changes.

* Provide engineering support to assess customer needs and solve field issues.

* Deliver maintenance support for existing software to ensure prompt rectification of problems.

* Support unit and integration testing of products on and off-site.

* Contribute to derivative software design and implementation with minimal technical guidance from senior engineers.

* Participate in source code control and software release activities.

* Ensure proper test, debug and verification of software prior to release.

* Communicate project status, issues, and requirements both verbally and in writing.

* Produce well-structured documented and maintainable code.

* Contribute to institutionalization of disciplines, process & tools and ensure adherence to company processes.

* Willing to travel 15%, with periods of on-site support at customer locations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

* Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology discipline is required.

* Commercial software development experience within Consumer Electronics, Telecoms, Automotive, Industrial or Aerospace industries.

* A good knowledge of programming languages, in particular C/C .

* Working knowledge of software engineering for embedded systems, in particular Linux systems operating in both user and kernel space domains.

* Experience of Source Code Control Systems & Bug Trackers.

* Understanding of makefiles and build systems.

* Practiced in writing shell scripts.

Desirable Skills

* Knowledge of video, audio and broadcast standards.

* Experience with network programming, including sockets, TCP/IP, UDP and related networking protocols.

* Ability to configure LAN networks using Ethernet, MoCA or Wi-Fi.

* Familiar with reading hardware schematics and understanding hardware limitations.
