I do believe in magic. I was born and raised in a magic time, in a magic town, among magicians. When I was twelve, the words was my magic lantern, and by its green spirit glow I saw the past, the present, and into the future. We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see out destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put in the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for God’s sake. And you know why we’re told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wilderness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad at what they allowed to whither in themselves. After you get so far away fro it, though, you can’t really get it back. You can have seconds of it. Just seconds of knowing and remembering. When people get all weepy at movies, it’s because in that dark theatre, the golden pool of magic is touched, just briefly. Then they come out into the hard sun of logic and reason again and it dries up, and they’re left feeling a little heartsad and not knowing why. For the briefest of instants, you have stepped into the magic realm. The truth of life is that every year we get farther away from the essence that is born within us. We get shouldered with burdens, some of them good, some of them not so good. Things happen to us. Loved ones die. People get in wrecks, and get crippled. It’s not hard to do, in this world of crazy mazes. Life itself does its best to take that memory of magic away from us. You don’t know its happening until one day you feel like you’ve lost something, but you’re not sure what it is. In the absence of love, there is nothing worth fighting for. In the long run all love is paid by love, Man, so far as natural science by itself is able to teach us, is no longer the final cause of the universe, the Heaven-descended heir of all the ages. His very existence is an accident, his story a brief and transitory episode in the life of one of the meanest of the planets. … We survey the past, and see that its history is of blood and tears, of helpless blundering, of wild revolt, of stupid acquiescence, of empty aspirations. We sound the future, and learn that after a period, long compared with the individual life, but short indeed compared with the divisions of time open to our investigation, the energies of our system will decay, the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy conscience, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. ‘Imperishable moments’ and ‘immortal deeds’, death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been. Nor will anything that is be better or worse for all that the labour, genius, devotion, and suffering of man have striven through countless generations to effect. -Anna Louise Strong -Arthur Balfour, The Foundations of Belief, being notes introductory to the study of theology, London: Longmans, Green, and Co., pp. 30-31, 1895 -Elijah Wood search engine marketing, search engine optimization, sem, seo, ppc, pay-per-click, advertising, social network marketingof the 1930s It included sacking and burning monasteries and churches and killing of 6 832 members of the Catholic clergy as well as attacks on landowners industrialists and right-wing politiciansDisabled people affirm that the design of the environment often disables them In better-designed environments they are disabled less or not at all This affirmation arises in part from the understanding that while medical intervention can improve the health issues inherent in certain forms of disability it does not address societal issues that prevail regardless of the extent or success of medical intervention In conjunction with this view of changing the environment from a disabling to anSodium hypophosphite 2001 Chemical compound Code of Federal Regulations DEA list of chemicals Drug Enforcement Administration Hypophosphorous acid Inorganic chemistry Phosphine Stub /Indiana State Road 262 Infobox road/IN extrabrowse/IN262 Dearborn County Indiana Dillsboro Indiana Indiana Indiana State Road 261 Indiana State Road 263 Indiana State Road 56 Kilometre List of Interstate Highways in Indiana List of State Roads in Indiana Freelance Community + Social Network= Best Place for Services computer repair, web design, programming, web site, SEO, social media, PPC, search engine optimization, pay per click, mac, windows, apple, graphic design, freelance, servcie • Location: Los Angeles
