We are currently seeking an energetic Geologist for Hazardous Waste projects for our Los Angeles, CA office.
You will be involved in exciting projects from preparing field sampling plans, overseeing the drilling of boreholes, installing groundwater and soil vapor wells, and collecting environmental samples, including documentation of field activities. Sample media generally includes groundwater, stormwater, soil, soil vapor, and indoor air. Projects include hazardous waste and brownfields investigation and remediation sites.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
:Working with a team of engineers and scientists to prepare sampling plans, field notes, and remedial investigation reports documenting sampling results;
:Conducting fieldwork and sampling in accordance with approved sampling plans and standard operational procedures; and
:Interpreting sampling results with the project team to address potential chemical impacts to the environment.
The successful candidate must have:
:Interest in sedimentary geology and environmental hydrogeology;
:Three to five years of experience working in the field with and around heavy equipment;
:Willingness to work outdoors in sometimes challenging conditions;
:Experience drilling wells that are at least 100 feet deep;
:Medical clearance to work on hazardous waste sites and ability to lift 35 pounds;
:Skills in basic tool use and field problem:solving;
:Current valid drivers license;
:Interest in compiling field and laboratory data into concise written reports, including maps, figures, and tables;
:Organization and detail:oriented approach including following procedures for careful sampling and chain of custody requirements;
:Effective communication skills, both written and oral; and
:BS and/or MS in Geology or similar earth sciences educational degree.
