SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Machine Learning Undergrad Intern for an internship opportunity. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.
The qualified candidate will become part of the Computer Systems Research Department.

KEY FUNCTIONS
:The primary application is research and implementation of machine learning algorithms for multi:category object recognition/classification software, as well as software infrastructure to support dataset management and automated testing.
:The resulting software will be added to an existing C++/Python code library.
:Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners.
:Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
:Progression towards BS or higher in computer science, computer engineering, data science, mathematics or related field.
:Programming experience (e.g. C++, Python).
:Experience with object:oriented programming.
:Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) and work in a team environment.
:Desire to learn the vast and expanding field of data science and machine learning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:Must be a U.S. Citizen
:Requires the ability to obtain a security clearance
:Strong academic record
:Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems
:Must work in a team environment
:Must be detailed oriented
:Ability to prioritize tasks and projects
:Must possess strong organizational skills
:Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects at a time
:Effective interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations
:Strong written and oral communication skills

:Must possess time management and project management skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
:Experience in image/signal processing, statistics, and linear algebra
:Strong programming skills utilizing Scikit:learn, OpenCV, Caffe, and/or Torch libraries
:Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaborative environments.
:Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills.
:Interest in machine learning
:Participation in extracurricular activities related to data science (e.g. Kaggle competitions) 13;
