The mission of Citizens of the World Los Angeles (CWC LA) is to provide a socio:economically, culturally, and racially diverse community of students in Los Angeles with an intellectually challenging, experiential learning environment that develops each students confidence, potential, and individual responsibility as citizens of the world. CWC schools:Service a socioeconomically, culturally, and racially diverse community;Develop studentsA? social and emotional skills to prepare them to become citizens of the world in an ever:changing future; andPromote academic rigor through a constructivist, project:based learning approach, to support and develop childrenA?s natural intellectual curiosity The CWC LA network is growing at a rapid rate and currently enrolls 1,600 students in three high:performing schools:CWC Hollywood (opened in September 2010, renewed charter approved in December 2014, currently TK:5th grade);CWC Silver Lake (opened in August 2012, renewed charter approved in November 2016, currently TK:7th grade and growing to TK:8th grade in 2017:18); andCWC Mar Vista (opened in August 2013, currently TK:5th grade and growing to 6:8th grades over the next three years). CWC LA has a Regional Support Office that supports all CWC LA schools. We work with our network partners at Citizens of the World Charter Schools (CWC Schools), linking the schools in Los Angeles to CWC schools in New York City and Kansas City. Position DescriptionCWC Silver Lake is seeking a Math Teacher for the 2017:18 school year who wants to teach high school math courses (Algebra 1 and Geometry) to sections of 7th and 8th grade students. This teacher will work collaboratively with the STEM and grade:level teams to develop and implement a challenging student:centered curriculum. Additionally, this teacher will serve as an Advisor to a small cohort of students to facilitate the schools program in social:emotional learning and mentorship.The Math TeacherA?s job responsibilities include:Development and refinement of curriculum maps, lessons and units of study that meet or exceed requirements of the Common Core Math Standards and also incorporate the multiple intelligencesOngoing assessment of student progress and achievement using a variety of means to collect and report on academic dataUse of data to tailor instruction to meet individual student academic and social needs with a goal of every student performing on:grade level or above in all subject areasCreation of a strong classroom culture that is developed through CWCA?s social emotional learning focus and contribution to the broader school communityParticipation in professional development activities, both internal (led by the principal, lead teachers and visiting experts) and external (visiting other schools, attending conferences, and engaging in best practice sharing with others in the charter school community, etc.)Maintain frequent communication and engagement with studentsA? families, colleagues, and other school stakeholdersParticipate as an active member of the community to provide stewardship of the school and adherence to its mission and guiding principlesMaintaining a high:level of professionalism including meeting deadlines and the communityServe as an Advisor to a core group of studentsThe ideal candidate will have the following experience or qualifications:A BachelorA?s degree and single subject credential in MathCLAD or BCLADSuccessful completion of CBEST and/or CSET examMinimum of two years experience teaching in relevant grades, some high school experience preferred, or a background in teaching advanced math at the middle school levelExperience working in a socio:economically, racially, and culturally diverse classroom settingAbility to manage and instruct both small and large groups of studentsAn exhibited ability to work with children in a caring and respectful manner in order to create a joyful, caring classroom environment where instructional time includes community building, confl
