Job Description:/h3:
The Child Development Specialist coordinates the implementation of Training and Research Foundation education services, policies, and procedures to maintain best practices and effective service delivery to children and families at multiple site locations.
:Support the implementation of the Training and Research Foundation education services and systems, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated approach that meets the Head Start definition of curriculum.
:Provide oversight, direction, and supervision of team, including monitoring, staffing, performance evaluation, problem:solving, and corrective actions of center staff.
:Ensure that facilities, including buildings and grounds, are monitored and maintained to assure the safety of children and staff.
:Promote best practices in early childhood development based on Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, California Community Care Licensing, and the agencys policies and procedures.
:Assist in the maintenance of record keeping and reporting systems, schedules, timelines policies and procedures for education services
:Conduct on:going monitoring visits, tracking, follow:up and analysis of child development services, and child outcomes.
:Provide constructive feedback and on:going support to the Site Directors and teaching staff at assigned sites.
:Coordinate and provide training, and guidance to staff, parents, and community on a variety of pertinent topics in the area of education and child development.
:Communicate with staff, parents, program managers, consultants and community to enhance services to children and families.
:Train new teaching staff and maintain support as needed while they gain knowledge of their role and the responsibilities of their position.
:Conduct CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) observations and use the results for professional development and program planning.
:Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines preferred: Child Development,
Education/Education Administration, Liberal Studies.
:CTC Program Directors Permit.
:Three to five years (3:5) plus years of progressive management experience as well as direct experience working with Head Start.
:CLASS Reliable preferred.
:Must successfully pass a physical examination and have a current T.B. clearance, influenza, pertussis, and measles immunization.
:Must complete a criminal background clearance through Community Care Licensing (DOJ/FBI/CAI).
:Must possess a CA drivers license, access to an automobile, and evidence of automobile insurance.
