Job Description:/h3:
The EHS (Early Head Start) Health Educator is responsible for is responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering comprehensive health services to staff, children and families.
:Maintain recordkeeping and reporting systems, including service area plans, schedules, timelines, policies and procedures for health services in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Community Care Licensing, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
:Promote preventative health services and early intervention.
:Provide families with the necessary information and data to link families to on:going health care system to ensure child continues to receive comprehensive services.
:Provide training and guidance to staff, parents, and community members on a variety of pertinent topics in the area of health.
:Ensure on:going monitoring, tracking, follow:up and analysis of health services throughout the program.
:Communicates with staff, parents, program consultants and the community to enhance services to children and families.
:Reviews, evaluates and interprets health records, vital statistics, and other data affecting health service in order to assess needs and to plan and implement special programs or activities to meet these needs.
:Conducts in:service training for staff concerning health education, and ChildPlus.
:Conducts periodic observations of health education in classrooms.
:Ability to travel throughout Training and Research Foundations service area on a regular basis.
:Coordinate post:partum visits with new mothers that responds to the well:being of the mother and newborn, addresses families questions and concerns, and offers resources and referrals as necessary.
:Provide training and resources to parents and Home Educators about a variety of maternal, infant and pediatric health including well:baby visits, safe sleep practices for infants, benefits of breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, labor and delivery.
:Educate parents regarding health advocacy related to well:baby checks.
:Facilitate the access of comprehensive health services (i.e., nutritional counseling, food assistance, oral health care, mental health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and emergency shelter or transitional housing in cases of domestic violence)
:Supervises the health screening and the provision of medical and dental examination for each child.
:May perform other duties as assigned my supervisor.
Bachelors Degree in Health Education, Public Health or related field with an emphasis on pediatric health. Must have 2:3 years of progressive Head Start and Early Childhood Education experience. Must have 2:3 years experience in maternal or pediatric health.
:Must successfully pass a physical examination and have a current T.B. clearance.
:Must complete a criminal background clearance through Community Care Licensing (DOJ/FBI/CAI).
:Must possess a CA drivers license, access to an automobile, and evidence of automobile insurance.
:Must possess a reliable vehicle.
