Programs desired included, but are not limited to music (DJ, guitar, drums, and voice), film, contemporary/urban art, dance, ceramics, theater, fashion, jewelry design, photography, makeup artistry, computer graphics and design. The Enrichment Coach will work with up to twenty students at a time, at the designated school site. This position reports to the Site Coordinator. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:ResponsibilitiesSupervise and maintain at least twenty students per classMaintain required student enrollment and attendance to meet grant requirements and maximum participation throughout the duration of programWork in collaboration with the afterschool Site Coordinator and other supervisory staffDevelop and maintain positive relationships with school staff, parents, and participantsConduct outreach techniques to promote enrichment program and maximize students participationFacilitate and supervise activities with groups of twenty studentsRepresent the mission of the YPI at every siteSupervise all participants to ensure a safe learning environment and organized programMust maintain accurate daily attendance recordsAttend weekly and/or bi-weekly staff meetings and trainingsUses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.Plan and prepare students for a culminating event to showcase their workOrganizes special events/activities to showcase students work to community partnersPrepare and implement educational activity plans aligned to project based learning and common core by the established deadlinesCollaborate with afterschool staff and school teachers to increase student academic success and quality programAdhere to workplace safety guidelinesAdhere to tutor/student boundaries as outlined in Code of ConductAttend required staff meetings, trainings and events on and off-siteMust wear YPI uniform while on dutyPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh School Diploma. Certification, training and/or work experience in specified program.Must be currently enrolled in college, having completed or working toward the completion of Freshman English, College math (Algebra II) and/or equivalent math creditsMust complete a written English/Math assessment at the time of the reviewMust provide college or university transcripts demonstrating fulfillment of English and math requirements or that they are in progressMinimum one year paid or volunteer experience in mentoring/youth environmentMust have effective communication skillsPrevious experience with elementary, middle and/or high school studentsAbility to work independently, self-starter, enthusiastic, flexibleMust have access to reliable transportation to arrive to work site at scheduled time consistently If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.Ability to work with varied populations Elementary School, Middle School, High SchoolStrong organizational skills and deadline orientedMust pass a criminal background check (Livescan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment with childrenMust present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days prior to start dateMust complete CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employmentSome evenings and/or weekends may be requiredBilingual Spanish a plusPart-time, primarily after school, hours vary per school site.Apply To apply, submit your resume and cover letter Company DescriptionThe Youth Policy Institute transforms Los Angeles neighborhoods using a holistic approach to reduce poverty by ensuring families have access to high quality schools, wrap-around education and technology services, enabling a successful transition from cradle to college and career.Since the 1990's YPI has successfully blended multiple funding streams and partnerships to saturate Los Angeles communities with critically needed services.
