Global Investment Control directly supports Capital Groups Investment professionals, helps implement investment decisions and facilitate the investment process. Operating from locations in North America, Europe, and Asia, core functions include order management, portfolio construction and compliance, trade support, corporate action communication and coordination, and proxy services, among others. These services support the management of equity and fixed income portfolios for retail, institutional and private clients.
As a Manager based in Los Angeles, you will play a leadership role in the Governance and Proxy group within Global Investment Control. This team supports Capital Groups global proxy voting process and the Manager will oversee day:to:day activities and operations of the team. You will be responsible for ensuring Capital Groups proxy voting processes are performed at the highest level; compliance and regulatory requirements are met; and developing a team of experienced and motivated associates.

Identify, develop, and lead initiatives within Governance and Proxy, determine priorities and goals for the group, and provide project management oversight to help drive various initiatives including continuous improvement efforts and a new technology strategy.
Provide change management leadership.
Lead and represent the Governance and Proxy perspective in initiatives and business matters with various key stakeholders, which may include the Investment Group, Legal and Compliance, Independent Directors and industry associations.
Develop a high performing team by managing, coaching and mentoring associates, including identifying and providing associates with challenging development opportunities.
Partner with senior management and other managers on key initiatives within GIC.
8+ years experience in legal, compliance, investment operations or related experience; financial services or investment management industry experience required
Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage people, including coaching and developing for excellent performance
Familiarity with proxy voting process and corporate governance is helpful, but not required; however, the ability to quickly learn in order to lead issue resolution, build credibility with key business partners and dive into critical proxy and governance topics is essential.
Effective project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to credibly facilitate discussions cross:department and with key external stakeholders
Undergraduate degree required
