We are currently in need for additional experienced ESL teachers for our summer camp programs in Malibu, CA on the campus of Pepperdine University. Average of 20 teach hours per week. Mornings only. PROGRAM DATES: June 25- July 29, 2017July 9 - 29, 2017Candidates will need to be available starting the week prior to the above noted program dates for orientation and training.Reporting directly to the Youth Camp Academic Director, the Youth Camp Instructor is responsible for planning, teaching and evaluating assigned classes in accordance with the ELS curriculum. The Instructor will also be responsible for maintaining student class records and fulfilling administrative duties, with assistance from the Youth Camp Academic Director.Job RequirementsTeach the assigned Youth Camp classes.Prepare lesson plans and applicable in class exercises.Evaluate and counsel the student regarding his/her classroom performance.Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.Coordinate instruction, attendance records and evaluation with other teachers.Know and adhere to Youth Camp and Company policy and procedures.Complete administrative paperwork as required.Maintain performance and attendance records.Maintain Youth Camp resource materials and files.Participate in weekly administrative meetings.Participate in the employee evaluation process (ie, classroom observations and follow-up discussions and the performance appraisal process).Develop and/or refine teaching materials at the local level.Participate in activities during the Instructor's scheduled class hours and, when requested, to disseminate information about after-class activities.Contribute to the maintenance of neat classrooms and a neat staff workroom.Substitute when needed.Perform other duties as assigned by ELS Special Programs.TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelorsa€ (TM) degree and ESL Certification preferredMust have 6+ months previous ESL classroom teaching experience focused on student-centered learningExperience working with teenagers/high-school aged studentsCultural sensitivity and ability to work with multi-ethnic groups a mustNative English fluencyApplicants must be eligible to work in the United States, ELS does not offer sponsrships.
