Los Angeles Amazigh Film Festival 2012 - Fourth annual

This Festival, sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the city of Los Angeles, the Amazigh Cultural Association in America, (A.C.A.A.) and the Tazzla Institute for Cultural Diversity of Burbank, Ca., is a unique event in the US, dedicated to celebrate and showcase artists, cinematographers, and musicians of the North African Berber cultures, which extend from the Oasis of Siwa in Egypt to Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, the Canary Islands and the Sahara Desert (Niger, Mali, Burkina-Faso).

Now in its fourth year of celebration in Los Angeles, the festival will focus on Morocco and will include:

- Saturday, April 21, 2012, Barnsdall Theatre, 4800 Hollywood blvd, Los Angeles from 5pm to 10 pm.

The packed program will include an opening montage on the Blue City of Chefchaouen (Rif, Morocco) of a few minutes, created by Amazigh Video Productions of Burbank, Ca; a series of beautiful and meaningful documentaries crafted by young Berber cinematographers of Morocco on the Rif Mountains of northern Morocco and the High Atlas mountains of the interior; an outstanding film, "Itto Titrit" by Mohammed Oumouloud Abbazi of the Middle Atlas region of Morocco (110 minutes) ; a Moroccan Tea reception; and a PREMIERE performance by musician, composer, artist and performer KHALID IZRI. A Photo Exhibit and a musical montage on Ganga Musicians of Taroudant will be offered by local Moroccan Berber photographer Noureddine El- Warari of Santa Monica.

- Sunday Matinee, April 22, 2012, Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Avenue, Venice, Ca.. Special presentation and PREMIERE of the UK-Morocco 2011 film of Barney Platts-Mills "Zohra, a Moroccan Fairy Tale" (80 minutes) followed by a concert performance by KHALID IZRI. Los Angeles Algerian Rai singer and percussionist, Fella Ouddane will join him on the stage and perform a drum solo.

Tickets sold at the door : $15.00 - 85 seats available.> NEW!!! Catering at the Barnsdall Theater on Saturday April 21 will be done by Casablanca Trucks, Gourmet Moroccan Food. Moroccan Mint tea and tidbits. For the Electric Lodge event, on Sunday April 22, 3 pm, the traditional Mint Tea reception will be prepared and graciously donated by French Algerian Chef Farid Zadi, and his wife Susan, owners of CafeLivre, 9626 Venice blvd, Culver City. Algerian Mint Tea and almond cigars.
