Two cousins who grew up in Panama before spending their in Oakland, California, Raka Dun and Raka Rich put a distinctive "Panabay" twist on hip-hop and reggae, bridging the streetwise sounds of the places they've called home. Drawing on Panamanian plena's faithful approach to reggae classics and the Bay Area's independent and idiosyncratic hip-hop scene, Los Rakas merge familiar dancehall melodies with a lyricism all their own. After making local noise with his crew Semiotics and Manteca early in this new millennium; in 2004 he came into the light as part of the dynamic MC / DJ duo Jroz and Ethos. Both setting a standard in the Los Angeles underground Hip Hop scene. This opened up more doors thus giving him the opportunity to link up with one of Mexico’s most influential and respected emcees by the name of Bocafloja. This solidifying his role as a member of Quilombo Arte en Resistencia and as a respected Dj in the Republic of Mexico’s Dj/Turntablist scene. Before that honor he was already part of the world wide known Project Blowed, one of the most ground braking and innovative Los Angeles based crews of our time.
