Like that couple in the row boat (see cartoon on the right), my husband and I were often paddling in opposite directions. Friction, disagreements, insults, cross accusations had become the norm in our marriage. Keys to long term cooperative, harmonious and affectionate relationships that I occasionally observed in other relationships seemed elusive to us.

Recovery International addresses the realities of the annoyances and stresses which are part of everyday living that can easily fuel conflicts and disaffection. We learn it doesn’t have to go that way. By providing us with a method and tools that enable greater self awareness, we realize we have the personal power to better self control, alternate perspectives and alternate behaviors promoting greater civility in our relationships.

We start by recognizing our thoughts and how they are related to our emotions and in particular, the first stirrings of temper. We become insightful as to what stirs our temper and learn to avoid the thought pathways that lead to “losing it.” As we gain insight, we can foresee the consequences when we make mountains out of molehills. We learn skills that allow us to keep ourselves calmer in expressing ourselves and we find better ways to invite cooperation instead of antagonism. .

We have many RI meetings in the Los Angeles area. (See meeting list below.) People are welcome to just drop in at any convenient meeting and observe for themselves how the method works--just to see if it makes sense. If you think it is for you or if you are willing to give it a try, then we have many meetings and also many other options for you. On the other hand, if you don't think it is for you, it's your choice not to return. We do request a $4.00 or more donation at the meeting, but it is up to you as to what you drop in the basket.

Ann Landers speaking of Recovery, Inc. (now RECOVERY INTERNATIONAL) "Their record of success is phenomenal."

If you are unfamiliar with our organization and are hesitant to contact us—we invite you to learn more about us so you can be assured that you are connecting with a very reputable non-profit organization--highly regarded within the mental health community. We encourage you to look us up on the web using our name “Recovery International” or our founder’s name, “Dr. Abraham Low.” You will find us on web sites such as Wikipedia.org., for instance.

WE REQUEST A $4.00 OR MORE DONATION FROM MEETING ATTENDEES, BUT THE DONATION IS NOT REQUIRED. WHATEVER YOU CAN DONATE IS APPRECIATED.
