In 1962, Cathay Bank opened for business with the mission of providing financial services to the growing but underserved Chinese:American community in the greater Los Angeles area, thus becoming the first Chinese:American bank in Southern California. Responsible for researching, developing and writing new branch operations policies and procedures. Develops Operations Circulars, Warning Circulars, eManuals and Job Aids in support of regulatory changes, new product offerings, enhancements and processing efficiency. Reviews and revises existing policies and procedures improving branch workflow and creating efficiencies while minimizing risk and exposure. Answers inquiries regarding overall branch operations, including new accounts, legal, compliance and policy/procedural questions, and provide decision:making guidance. Plans, organizes and implements various small to moderate scope operations projects.
The incumbent supervises the Branch Services staff.
Respond to inquiries on branch operations, policy/procedures, new accounts, customer service, compliance and training related issues. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assist in resolving any related procedural issues or complaints.
Analyze and revise existing operations procedures, and develop new, effective procedures.
Write Operations Circulars and update the eManual with new branch procedures and Job:Aids.
Review branch audit reports and call logs to identify trends and develop solutions and training to address exceptions.
Plan and coordinate branch mini:audits; assess operations/compliance risks, identify deficiencies/ weaknesses, reinforce procedures and provide necessary training.
Participate in evaluating and recommending policy enhancements or modifications.
Plan, conduct and implement projects of small to moderate scope. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Manage and/or participate in Customer Services and Sales Manager (CSSM) and Champion meetings.
Under the direction of the VP, Branch Services, provide guidance to direct staff (Branch Services Officers), including goal setting, training and staff development. This includes ensuring branch employees accurately perform their operations and compliance related tasks and functions.
Manage and participate in conversion activities during mergers/acquisitions by providing operational support.
Travel to branches inside and outside of California to conduct mini:audits and training.
Minimum qualifications/requirements:
College degree with business classes preferred or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 5 years of branch operations experience required.
Good understanding of overall banking regulation and standard practices.
Management experience preferred.
