Job Description:/h3:
The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the day:to:day operation of the central kitchen; includes supervision, maintenance of records, purchasing, and distribution of meals and snacks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
:
Oversees the preparation of food according to meal patterns including meal patterns for children with food
allergies/intolerances.
:
Assists in the planning of varied menus to ensure that food is appetizing and nutritionally suitable for children.
:
Estimates daily or weekly needs and requisitions food supplies and equipment through established agency procurement procedures.
:
Supervises and coordinates activities of Food Service Workers who prepare, cook, serve food, clean premises and wash dishware and cooking utensils.
:
Prepare food delivery schedules and assignments to personnel.
:
Keeps daily records of meals served and takes inventory of supplies and equipment.
:
Participates in monthly health and sanitation inspections of food service facilities.
:
Participates in preparing and cooking meals.
:
May participate in transporting prepared meals, supplies and utensils to centers.
:
Supervises the proper storage and handling of food and supplies.
:
Assure all aspects of foodservice are in compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Head Start, as well as local, state and federal regulations.
:
Creates and monitors workflow and schedules.
:
Develops staff training, training plans, and reviews the performance of staff. Ensures adherence to agency policies and procedures.

Education/Certifications: 20 units in the field of Institutional Management, Dietetics, Home Economics Education with an emphasis on Foods and Nutrition from an accredited Junior College. An AA degree in Home Economics is preferred.
Requirements:
:
Must successfully pass a physical examination and have a current T.B. clearance, influenza, pertussis, and measles immunization.
:
Must complete a criminal background clearance through Community Care Licensing (DOJ/FBI/CAI).
:
Must possess a CA drivers license, access to an automobile, and evidence of automobile insurance.
