Polar Power Inc, a Nasdaq company (Ticker: POLA), is a manufacturer and global distributor of power generators, renewable energy and cooling systems to the telecommunications, military, electric vehicle, Marine, and commercial markets. We are experiencing high growth rate and in the process of expanding our R&D efforts, manufacturing process, product testing, and field support services. We need innovative engineers to make this happen.

Below is a synopsis of what we do and the skills that we need. On job training is available, but you must have talent. Our positions are not for engineers who want to coast along in their careers or treat it as an 8 to 5 job.



Some of our projects provide the opportunity to travel to all the continents, other projects were no travel.



Because of the diversity of our product and services, this position certainly does not have the same old routine every day.



Polar provides:

· Solar Photovoltaic Hybrid Systems

· DC Generators for Military and Telecommunications

· Hybrid Electric propulsion for Marine and Automotive

· Micro-Cogeneration



Polar designs and manufactures:

· DC Alternators

· Microprocessor Controls

· Propane, natural gas, and diesel DC generators

· Brushless DC motors

· Advanced battery packs

· Power supplies



Immediate Engineering projects:

1. Redesign and certify small engine ignition / carburation system for higher efficiency. Work on lean, Stoic, and EGR for natural gas and LPG fuels.

2. Diesel, CNG, and LPG engine control interfaces

3. Lightweight 200 kW Permanent magnet generator set for Data centers and military weapons systems.

4. Improving the reliability of solar PV air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

5. Creating automated production equipment.

6. Programming and testing Solar Hybrid systems.



If you have the capability and the creativity you can assist in product development. Designing digital controls, power supplies, motor controllers, IC engine controls, fuel / combustion systems, and programming (CAN bus, C+, MS Visual Studio).



On the production floor you interface with our senior engineers providing support for:

· Product testing

· Researching and testing new materials / components

· Troubleshooting problems and helping to maintain facilities equipment

· Perform final product testing/acceptance

· And if you have the capability assisting us in new product designs



Desirable technical skills include one or more of the following:

· Digital controls

· Internal combustion engines (natural gas, diesel, propane)

· Solar photovoltaic systems and battery charging

· Electrical / electronic wiring

· DC electrical buss practices and NEC codes

· Electronic instrument skills

· Proficient with hand tools

· Trouble shooting failed control circuits or mechanical assemblies



Some of the tasks may include:

· Working with our senior mechanical, electronic and software engineers

· Researching and sourcing components.

· Perform lab testing to verify product performance and document system performances by completing test reports.

· Help contribute to critical design reviews for manufacturing and design based on field experiences, service calls, and maintenance logs.

· Testing engines and generators. Assist or lead in the development / modification of small engines.

· Train customers, service teams, and perform field demonstrations anywhere in the world.

· Able to identify problems relating to: nonconforming product, calibration, and unique issues with the site installations.

· High level engineering: finite analysis, control and power circuit design, combustion engineering, programming, testing, heat transfer, etc.




You must have:

· A minimum of an BS degree, technician certificate or completion of equivalent technical course. A college/university degree in engineering is desirable but we also realize that some of the most creative talents are self-taught or mentored.

· Fluent English and possess very good communication skills

· Applicant must have a current California driver's license with a clean driving record

· You must in good health and able to lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds

· Must have a positive attitude, professional appearance
