Lambda Legal seeks a Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) to join their Development Department. The Regional Program Coordinator reports to the Regional Director and works closely with the National Events Director and other Development Staff as well as the National Community Engagement Director, Communications Staff and Legal Outreach Coordinator to maintain and expand Lambda Legal’s events and programs in the Western Region. Lambda Legal is a national, nonprofit organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Washington DC.

The Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) is responsible for planning, managing, executing or assisting on a wide range of special events, from large sit-down dinners (400+) to mid-size cocktail receptions and small house parties. Together with the Development team, in particular, the RPC is responsible for overseeing the smooth processing and recording of events-related donations by working with staff across the Development and Finance Departments.

The RPC will work directly with the Regional Director and Major Gifts Officers (MGOs), volunteer committees, volunteer leadership, and all corporate and institutional sponsors of assigned events.

The RPC will manage all tasks required for a successful event including: developing budgets and timelines; devising solicitation strategies; negotiating vendor contracts; organizing site visits; volunteer coordination; design and production of event promotional materials including invitations, social media and other collateral; ticketing and seating; etc.

The RPC will manage all online event materials, email correspondence, and social media publicity, in coordination with Events Staff, the Regional Director and Major Gifts Officers and maintain complete and accurate records of all Development events across the region, including internal event calendar and creation of event modules and revenue codes in Raisers Edge. The RPC will oversee proper data entry for all events-related donations and work with the Database team to correct errors and omissions.

Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing and managing volunteer committees, event volunteers, and consultants. The RPC will train Development interns and new development staff in Raiser’s Edge and Convio event procedures.

The RPC serves as coordinator for all pride participation across the region. This position will work with the National Community Engagement Director on the participation and presence of Lambda Legal at select pride celebrations and other community outreach events. Duties include registering for parades/marches as well as booth/table staffing, securing and displaying material and collateral, scheduling and staffing of volunteers and post-event securing import of visitors names and contact information into Convio database.

The RPC serves also to coordinate programs and publicity for WRO staff and other staff visiting the region for speaking and other public programs. The RPC will work with the Legal Outreach Coordinator to be aware of program staff appearance schedules in the region, advise the Regional Director and Major Gifts Officers of those public appearances, publicize program staff public appearances to membership through email, event pages and social media and collect and import event participant contact information into the Convio database, as appropriate.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have 1-3 years experience in not-for-profit development, events production and management. Candidates must be verbally articulate with strong written communication skills. Occasional ability to travel and work evenings and weekends required.

Individuals who apply should be very detail-oriented, able to multi-task and independently motivated. Computer skills required include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge (or other fund-raising software.), Convio, Drupal, Adobe Illustrator, HTML or other design skills a plus. Working knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram desired.
