Job Summary (Brief description of overall function):
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of the DAS design and implementation for new DAS projects and upgrades to existing projects. The Project Engineer is InSites primary technical representative to carriers and venues responsible for formulating design requirements; negotiating vendor and consultant agreements; supervising and managing project execution; and controls schedule and costs. The Project Engineer manages contract design engineers, OEM vendors, construction contractors, and system integration contractors. This position requires approximately 20 travel within the U.S.
Essential Duties:
Carrier and Venue Liaison: Establish and maintain effective relationships with all facility and carrier clients, keep all clients informed of InSite activities and meet customer needs. Establish design criteria and details specific to the venue and carriers. Lead on x2010;site meetings and recurring project calls. Present designs and cost estimates. Plan project execution, set schedules and provide reports to carriers and venues.
Internal Company Coordination: Discuss project goals and objectives with management including coverage requirements, venue details and required terms, OEM x2010;vendor recommendation, expected carrier participation, expected rental revenue. Provide project scope to legal and facilitate agreement development. Provide carrier proposals to accounting for billing. Submit PO requests to accounting for purchasing and track all project revenue and expenses vs. P.O.s.
RF Design: Identify technology choices, sector counts, macro levels, coverage requirements, protocol limitations, and E911 requirements and discuss with carriers. Obtain facility drawings and discuss facility requirements and space availability with venues. Research FCC databases and establish capacity requirements by frequency band. Supervise background signal level, CW testing, iB x2010;Wave designs performed by contractors and/or OEM vendors. Review and submit RF designs for management approval.
Project Management: Plan, supervise, inspect, correct as needed, and accept installation work for new systems and carrier additions. Coordinate plans, schedules, and inspections among carrier, facility, installer, and manufacturer. Assure complete conformance with plans and specifications, manage process, troubleshoot problems, and take corrective actions.
Project Engineer: Assure and maintain clean, efficient installations, using professional quality materials and methods, conforming to all applicable standards and best practices, with complete and clear labeling and documentation. Ensure conformance to design drawings and specifications, manufacturers specifications, industry standards, and code requirements. Assure contractor: Lays out all work in each area in advance, identifies and reports all design and construction issues and discrepancies immediately upon discovery and seeks appropriate direction from design engineer, equipment vendor, InSite or other responsible party, verifies proper locations for equipment, cabling and connections, o Verifies cable lengths are within tolerance of the design specification. Verifies all equipment and cabling is neatly, professionally, and completely installed in a secure and workmanlike manner and configured to be readily serviced and maintained. Ensures proper fire rating of all cables. Maintains acceptable bend radius of cables and number of bends per spec, minimizes cable lengths, and ensures proper connector installation and torque on connections, supervise all testing as defined in the contract drawings and specifications between Installation Contractor and InSite. These tests include: RF system loss, return loss, distance to fault, PIM, and any other tests required by equipment vendor on all feed line, jumpers, antennas and other antenna system components to ensure system perfo
