Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Dynamics Engineer 3 to join our team of creative and diverse engineers. The position will be located in El Segundo, CA.
The Dynamics Engineer will support Aircraft programs and Advanced Technologies. The candidate will lead the development of design loads criteria and governing documents; flight loads (steady state maneuvers, abrupt maneuvers, gust response, control surface hinge moments, and all including aero-elastic effects); ground loads (ground handling, landing loads, taxi and take-off loads, and drop test loads); miscellaneous loads (canopy, doors, pressurization, engine mount, external store, tie-down/mooring, and aerial refueling); dynamics loads ( gust response, buffet analysis, store ejection, impact, and vibro-acoustics), fatigue spectra (master event spectrum, event sequencing, and loads spectra); flight and ground testing (loads instrumentation and calibration, structural static/proof, flight ground vibration test planning); flutter analysis, and aeroelasticity analysis. The candidate will be involved in catapult loads, arresting loads, shipboard deck handling loads and crash loads. He/she will lead internal research activities and will be expected to set technical directions for the department. The candidate will coordinate with other engineering disciplines for analysis inputs and design implementation details, document results and interface with external customers. He/she will review other people’s work for soundness of technical judgment and overall quality. The candidate must be an expert user of commercial software such as NX, NASTRAN, ZERO, ZONAIR and MATLAB for flutter, gust, ASE, and loads analyses.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support Aircraft programs and Advanced Technologies by leading development of design loads criteria
- Execute dynamics testing including pre-test analysis, data reduction and model correlation
- Performing analyses using commercial and in-house codes and providing solutions to a variety of loads and dynamics related technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
