Responsibilities 13;

Provides professional engineering/scientific support within (research and development) engineering, systems engineering, project engineering, or technology functions/ organizations. The Guidance Analysis Department (GAD) provides the design and analysis support for guidance, navigation, and control (GN and C) for launch vehicles and upper stages. GAD is responsible for GN and C system validation, targeting, trajectory performance, and mission certification. GAD fulfills a systems engineering and integration role for the respective disciplines. The department is dedicated to achieving total mission success while maintaining the highest level of integrity and technical excellence.


:Independently evaluates, selects, and applies engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Assignments typically have specified objectives. Contacts are primarily internal, with infrequent inter:organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters
:Engineering assignments: Performs analytical studies, conducts tests, develops details of specifications, prepares details of analytical report findings, assists in planning and development of studies and design projects
:Systems engineering assignments: Participates in development of program interfaces between hardware and computer systems; diagnoses both hardware and software simulation tool problems; designs improvements to simulation environments; develops and/or revises programs for data reduction and analysis
:Project engineering assignments: Performs analytical studies, conducts integration tests, and develops details of acquisition hardware/software and database specifications
:Technology assignments: Assists in technology planning and development; performs testing and evaluation of materials and devices; develops procurement specifications and test procedures; prepares details of analytical reports, including preliminary findings and recom mendations
:Perform engineering analyses of launch and upper:stage vehicle guidance and navigation systems, including performance of guidance algorithms and use of inertial systems, GPS, and other sensors
:Perform trajectory studies and conduct error and orbital perturbation analyses
:Perform statistical analyses of launch vehicle trajectories and targeting accuracy
:Develop mathematical models and high:fidelity computational simulations of launch vehicles from fundamental principles of dynamics and physics
:Develop computational tools to analyze the performance of launch vehicle guidance and navigation systems
:Study and evaluate launch vehicle guidance and navigation designs and algorithms
:Analyze control system performance, develop and perform linear stability analyses, time and frequency domain simulations
:Prepare technical reports and briefings to be presented to the customer 13;

:Bachelors degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
:Knowledge in guidance, navigation, and control systems, advanced dynamics, and orbital mechanics
:Ability to identify, assess, and resolve engineering problems with the highest technical objectivity
:Experience in mathematical modeling of vehicle dynamics
:Experience in vehicle guidance and navigation algorithms
:Experience in developing and conducting computer:based vehicle simulations
:Experience in performing statistical analyses, specifically relating to launch vehicle performance, trajectory and targeting accuracy
:Familiarity with control stability and performance analysis techniques
:Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink and FORTRAN programming languages
:Familiarity with working in the Unix operating system
:Effective verbal and written communication skills
:Strong work
