Summary :/h1:
TranSystems was recently awarded a significant contract by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to assess and evaluate bus stop usability throughout Los Angeles County. The project involves conditions analysis of some 25,000 bus stops over an 18:month project period. Successful candidates will be engaged in a challenging and progressive work for a respected firm on the project for up to 18 months involving data collection, planning, and problem:solving in the civil engineering field. Candidates must be able and willing to work cooperatively with project team members in a high:energy environment that encourages self:initiative and must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. This person should also possess a flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedules when required to meet deadlines and client needs.This is a part:time position and no sponsorship will be provided for this project.



NOTE: The position will involve field visits to Metro bus stops and transit facilities, some of which include industrial processing facilities and other heavy industrial activities, or sites that are under construction. Appropriate safety training and equipment will be provided for the work at project sites.



Please note that the wage for this part:time position is 12.00 per hour.



Basic Qualifications:

: Proficiency working with Microsoft Office and Windows 7 environment.
: Ability to walk between bus locations
: Ability to frequently bend and stoop to take measurements
: Reliable transportation


Preferred Qualifications:

: A two:year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
: Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school or technical institution working toward, or recently graduated, with a degree in engineering, architecture, urban planning or public administration, or related, with an interest in public transportation.
: Working knowledge of use of software packages such as Microsoft Access, GIS may be helpful
: Previous work experience/internship in transportation related environment and basic understanding of transportation development in the Los Angeles region
: Understanding of principles of civil design, architecture or urban planning, and transportation


General Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Working with custom database software, GIS and GPS/GNSS tools, field observation, surveying, and data recordation, use of survey/data collection equipment, data analysis, spreadsheet preparation, project reviews, and assistance with report preparation.
