Beekeeping Apprenticeship Program - Become a "bee ambassador"!

What Type of Equipment Do You Need?

No specialized equipment is needed to participate in the Natural Beekeeping Certificate program. However, to start your own hive(s) you will want some basic equipment including hive box(es), smoker, hive tool, and protective clothing. For the hands-on classes, we do provide a protective veil, but you will need either your own beesuit or a makeshift suit of long baggy pants, a long sleeve shirt or two, and some gloves.

What is Natural Beekeeping?

Natural Beekeeping is an organic and sustainable form of beekeeping that allows bees to prosper without the use of chemicals or feeding of industrial waste sugars. It allows bees to express their natural traits and behaviors while optimizing their health and well being.

Have you thought about becoming a beekeeper but were afraid to go it alone? Our Program provides an unequalled learning experience in which you will fully participate in the management of honey bee colonies throughout the seasons over a 2-year period.

We are all aware of the immense challenges that face honey and native bees. Through our Program you will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to competently and confidently manage honey bee colonies for bee health and honey production.

You also will have the opportunity to learn about native bees, and become a "bee ambassador"! As far as we can tell, there is no other apprenticeship program in the U.S. that is remotely like ours.
