Cardio Kickboxing Class

Kickboxing class based off the foundation of traditional Taekwondo

I am a 3rd degree black belt with 10+ years of teaching experience, new to the LA area and offering a hybrid Taekwondo/Kickboxing class with a helping of traditional strength training ( push ups, tricep dips, etc. ) and a dash of focus mitt training. My goal is to combat stress to create not only a well rounded full body workout, but a workout that is fun and ever evolving!

I teach two types of programs:

-Private sessions, custom-tailored to your needs.
-Group sessions (Better than Boot Camp), meeting Mon/Wed/Fri at 6am-7am, and due to demand, a second class Mon/Wed/Fri at 530pm-630pm.

I require a 4 week minimum commitment, so we can increase the difficulty as we go, and because I have recently relocated from the Mid West, I am offering all Better than Boot Camp classes at a discount of my established rate for a limited time. A similar class would cost significantly more, and I am confident my unique blend will offer more bang for your buck. In addition I limit the class to 10 people per class so that all students will still get personal attention while training with me. I am a great judge of how much people can get out of a workout and will push you when you need it, yet I will not yell and scream at you to do anything superhuman/out of your fitness level.

When you contact me please include the following:

Age:
Fitness level (1-10):
What is your profession:
Any past martial arts training:
What you are seeking from training:
Interested in private lesson or Better than Boot Camp:
Best class time(s) for you:

About me: I have been a passionate martial artist for the past 20+ years, teaching classes for the past 10. I prefer working outside the corporate system to maintain high standards and ensure that each student is treated individually to meet their goals. Please visit my yelp site for more details and testimonials. I look forward to training with you.

R1 Unites with Performance Pros to Unveil Women’s Threat Management Training

The R1 Training Center, L.A.’s original MMA Performance gym in collaboration with Dr Michael Gervais’s, Pinnacle Performance (www.pinnacle.pro) are happy to announce the development of R1’s Threat Management Training (TMT), an innovative course to address women's safety issues. Our TMT, blends practical defensive tactics, optimal performance training and essential psychological skills to provide women with sensible options before, during and after a hostile encounter.

The R1: TMT course was developed specifically for women to provide basic strategies and skills used for self-protection. This is not karate or traditional martial arts training - it does not require years of study to perfect. Instruction is based on the belief that we can act competently and decisively, by taking responsibility for our own safety. Core principals of this course: intelligence over emotions, common sense over random action, focus over fear.
Our two-day course begins 10AM on Saturday, November 7 at R1 and consists of four, 3-hour training sessions. Each training session will feature both verbal and hands-on applications, including, threat recognition, avoidance strategies and worse case scenarios. The course's hands-on training will include unarmed, armed and weapons of opportunity.

Below is a brief overview of topics to be covered:

* Women’s safety concerns
* Proactive avoidance

* Mental conditioning
* Practical self-defense techniques
* Applicable fitness routines
* Stress/ Fear coping mechanisms
* Law enforcement perspective
* Discussion: 'Realities of Violence & Its Aftermath'

Ultimately, empowerment is the goal of our R1: TMT program. With no outrageous claims nor irresponsible recommendations, we will encourage and guide you towards mastering the only thing truly master-able... yourself.

For more info or to enroll please go to www.R1gym.com or call us at 310.322.5552.

Cardio Kickboxing Class

When you train with me you get someone who is knowledgeable, personable and fun. I care about students success, with me you get someone who is open and truly cares about your success. Not something corporate and cold like many boot camps and gyms. Even though I want you to have fun and enjoy your training, I will not let you "phone it in". I am a great judge of how much people can get out of a workout and will push you when you need it, yet I will not yell and scream at you to do anything superhuman/out of your fitness level. The background and 411 with instructor/owner Kevin: I have been a passionate martial artist ever since the first time I started training 20+ years ago. That passion grew exponentially when I started teaching Taekwondo in the dojang 10 years ago. I moved from Iowa to SoCal back in 2006 and found that I missed teaching and training people. I missed seeing the excitement someone got when they tackled a new technique, and the joy they got out of improving themselves through hard work and exercise. Because of this drive and desire to see myself and others succeed I started teaching cardio kickboxing or more of what I call fitness kickboxing. I have taken the kicks and techniques I know as a 3rd degree black belt, added some punches from boxing with a helping of traditional strength training ( push ups, tricep dips, etc. ) and a dash of focus mitt training to combat stress to create not only a well rounded full body workout, but a workout that is fun and ever evolving! I have been focusing mainly on personal one on one training, but just started a small group class with new classes starting weekly. I call the class a Better than Boot Camp Class...The class involves students learning some basic kicks and punches done in a "shadow boxing style" (kicking and punching in the air). I mix up the combination's and will instruct you on the proper ways to execute said punches and kicks. (combination's and such change and evolve as you get a better grasp on basics) On top of that we will work on strength training by doing push ups, resistance band training and also incorporating hand dumbbells into the classes. I also mix in some focus mitt training, which is a great stress reliever and helps to tone muscle as well. No two sessions are identical, although there is a common "backbone" from which each class is drawn from. Think of it as a Better than Boot Camp workout. You can get solid results, and yet still learn new skills and have fun at the same time. This small group class meets 3 days a week in a local area park. I am looking to add to both my 6am-7am and 530pm-630pm class on Mon/Wed/Fri. There will be 3 classes per week. And a 4 week commitment minimum. With a 4 week commitment you get more out of the class, and I get to make classes a little more difficult as we go along. Being held accountable is the key to success with any workout, committing to 4 weeks and 3 classes a week will do this for you. (if you were to do a boot camp, and looked into pricing for said camps you would see that with me it is at least half if not more than half the price of the boot camps you find out there. And I feel my classes are more fun and you learn more new skills from me). I will put a cap of 10 people maximum per class if I need to so that all students will still get quite a bit of personal attention while training with me. If you're interested, I encourage you to invite friends to join you in training. Having someone you know train with you makes it more fun, and sometimes even more challenging as you try to out do one another. With the Better than Boot Camp Class you save some money, get more workout time in and essentially are getting the same workout as one on one sessions I teach. But I assure you you wouldn't get "lost in the mix" that is why I want to put a 10 person limit to classes if I need to. If you decide to train with me it is very helpful if you could bring a few things with you to your sessions: exercise mat (or yoga mat) two dumbbells (a weight that will challenge you, but not wear you down to much) jump rope towel for sweat water and a positive attitude to better yourself through a little hard work. Hodori Martial Arts When you contact me please include the following: Age: Fitness level: Where you are located: Best class time for you: What is your profession: Any past martial arts training: What you are seeking from training: Interested in one on one, or small group Better than Boot Camp: Challenge yourself and succeed! www.HodoriMartialArts.com
